“DETOX your mind, body, AND your contact list.”
― Supa Nova Slom

In the last couple of posts, I have been discussing how important it is to create a positive outlook on life, to be true to who you are and to remove the road blocks of lies and negativity that we fill our minds with. It’s important look at how to detox the body and mind at the same time. These are the practices that I have been trying to implement into my everyday life, lately. After I have spent some more time applying certain practices throughout my life, I will give a full break down and honest to god truth about what works and what doesn’t. But for now. . .

I thought that I would stick on this trend a little bit for now and take it a step further and detox my body, as well. It only seems fair that if I am trying to approach life with a healthy mindset then I should give body the same courtesy. Plus, I think that what we put into our bodies has a lot to do with the way that we feel and our mental capacity.

So, I am going to be doing a 3 week detox diet. No. . . I’m not going to be sitting around just drinking green juice and depriving myself of food. I’m not sure how healthy that truly is or how it even works (if you have tried it and have any opinions or suggestions, please let me know). Instead, I am going to be eating only natural foods, such as: fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, healthy oils, lean meat (wild caught fish and chicken), teas, and natural spices. You’re may be thinking that this can’t possibly be a detox, but it is. . . it’s meant to cleanse you of all of the toxins that are in your body by removing anything bad or processed from your diet. Also, I have food sensitivity’s, so I’m really excited to see how this works.

What I cannot eat includes: Dairy, gluten, starch, refined sugars, red meat, processed foods and more. However, the list of what I can’t eat is much shorter than what I can eat, which makes this detox a lot less daunting!

For those of you who don’t know, I’m lactose intolerant and every time that I eat dairy I am MISERABLE. . . every time! Yet, I can’t seem to stop eating it, because let’s be honest most good things have dairy in them! However, I know that this detox will be a great way to rid my body of all the toxins that have been building up, from not only internal forces (such as dairy and processed foods), but from external forces, as well.

The reason I’m telling you this is because I believe that it’s important to make sure that we take care of ourselves. Throughout life we get way to caught up in the day-to-day of things and it’s good to take a step back and give your mind and your body a good cleanse. A Detox of the body and the mind can give us the perfect way to get a fresh start. At the end of the day, they go hand-in-hand and you don’t want to neglect either one.

To be honest though, I’m also putting this out there so that I make sure that I stick to it. These kinds of things can be hard. Trust me, I know how much I love ice cream and a good pizza, so I’m prepared for it to be a challenge. But, I’m ready for it and I’m going to keep you updated along the way with how I’m feeling physically and mentally, whether or not I’m struggling, what I find easy and what I find hard and then at the end hopefully I’ll be able to tell you some differences in the way I feel from the beginning to the end!
